Use assertive communication to say what you mean, clearly and respectfully, even under pressure. Identify your default style and shift toward assertive.

Boundaries Without Guilt
Set a clear boundary and say "no" respectfully using the Positive No (Yes–No–Yes). Hold your ground calmly when someone keeps pushing.

Lead Across the Screen
Choose the right channel, chat, email, call, or video, for the message you're sending. Write clear, well-toned digital messages and show a credible presence on video.

Make Your Message Land
Structure any message so your key point comes through the first time, using frameworks like BLUF and PREP. Adapt your message to audience and channel.

Listen to Lead
Use active listening (SOLER) to understand before responding. Practise paraphrasing and reflecting to catch misunderstandings early and de-escalate tension.
